CFO, Data Center

The Data Center business unit CFO, working directly for Iron Mountain’s CFO, and working closely with and sitting on the Leadership Team of the Data Centers EVP and GM, will drive business partnership and decision support, as well as financial planning & analysis, assist with capital deployment decisions, customer decision support and partner with Iron Mountain colleagues to drive data centers corporate development and real estate development, accounting, controls, and shared services all with a goal to build this business globally and ensure sustainability.

She/He will be a strategic financial leader and thought partner who can effectively execute deals, including greenfield development, asset level equity and debt financing, and regional JV structures, etc. She/he will also partner to manage the fundamental controls and accounting of the organization, and the integration of new organizations which require fluid adoption of the financial process and controls. By the nature of the role, the successful candidate will play a significant role in developing investment analyses as Iron Mountain seeks to “recycle” capital, principally of stabilized data center assets; as such the role will have exposure to potential funding sources (e.g. joint venture partners, etc)


  • Key member of both the CFO and Data Centers leadership teams helping to develop the Iron Mountain finance organization, and set strategy and lead expansion efforts for the data center business unit

  • Working with the CFO and Data Centers GM, help effectively deploy and manage investments in excess of $300 million annually of investment globally, in addition to the $2.5B invested in the segment over the last 3 years to continue to build the Data Centers business

  • Working with Finance and Strategy organizations, as well as Corporate Development, manage multiple simultaneous acquisition and/or partnering projects, to include due diligence, program management of financial integration, and deal making with sophisticated executives and private equity owners

  • Oversee financial aspects of site selection for new development, construction cost/return modeling and associated financing activities

  • Participate in and partner with the Accounting, Tax, and Internal Audit organizations as to the financial accounting, controls and compliance, in accordance with REIT standards and requirements

  • Pricing and yield management for ongoing business and key contract development

  • Investor relations support, with ability to present the business to both debt and equity investors, and analysts

  • Preparation of materials for ongoing business unit review and presentation with Data Centers GM and CFO to the Iron Mountain Board

  • Financial planning & analysis, business analytics, analysis of customer and real estate investment and management

  • Lead a lean, global team of financial professionals to effectively build and manage the business

Ideal Experience/Education

  • 15+ years proven track record of financial management leadership preferably within a global technology, telecom and/or data center environment, preferably with experience working for a REIT

  • Possess a broad financial management background to include in-depth experience in examining, developing, and recommending Finance/Accounting policies and procedures including real estate development

  • Must have strong collaboration skills and a demonstrated capability to partner functions/departments in order to effectively work within the Iron Mountain structure

  • Preferably exposure and/or direct experience with Corporate Development and/or deal making with sophisticated executives and/or private equity owners

  • Prior experience in building growing a new business through M&A development and organic growth, across multiple regions and continents.

  • Management of a comprehensive, global business unit financial organization to include reporting, strategic planning, and compliance

  • Superior critical thinking, analytical and quantitative abilities, technology and software savvy

  • BS in Finance, Accounting or similar required

  • Advanced degree and/or CMA, CPA strongly desired

Preference is for the successful candidate to be located on the East Coast of the US, however willing to consider candidates located Western Europe
