The Head of Investor Relations (IRO) will be responsible for devising, executing and leading Iron Mountain's comprehensive investor relations strategy. In this role, s/he will shape and articulate the company’s investment story and lead engagement with the investment community and financial media to communicate the value of Iron Mountain to a sophisticated and diverse investor base. S/he will function as the primary interface between the global investment community and the company, providing investor and market intelligence to senior management, while educating investors and analysts on the company’s business strategies and performance.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the IRO will play a critical role in Iron Mountain’s overall communication strategy, ensuring consistency of the company's message to the investment community. S/he will serve as a senior advisor to the chief financial officer, chief executive officer, board and senior leadership team with regard to investor and financial communications, financial disclosure governance, capital markets strategy and the impact of investment trends and regulatory developments. Importantly, this leader will regularly engage with investors, analysts and influencers to ensure that Iron Mountain's strategy for business growth and value creation is well understood, and will serve as a vital source of market intelligence and investor feedback to the leadership team.

As the head of the investor relations function and key member of the global finance team, the IRO will be expected to provide thought leadership, counsel, recommendations and insight to the CEO, Chief Financial Officer, other Senior Management and the Board of Directors. This leadership role requires an experienced IRO who has led the investor relations function for a global, public company and is a forward thinker with regards to the impact of investment trends and regulatory developments.


  • Define and execute a strategic investor relations program that positions the company favorably with REIT, data center and other institutional investors and builds understanding of key drivers of shareholder value for Iron Mountain.

  • Manage and lead a best-in-class investor relations team.

  • Cultivate credibility with institutional investors, analysts and financial media by crafting targeted strategies for each audience; initiate coverage and maintain relationships with key sell-side and buy-side analysts, as well as key investors.

  • Develop and manage an integrated, proactive outreach program that strengthens Iron Mountain’s investor base and sets a high standard for investor communications and responsiveness.

  • Manage direct communications with key constituencies – including large shareholders, bond holders and ratings agencies; serve as a sophisticated senior level resource that builds on the efforts of the CEO and CFO with these key groups.

  • Set high-level, strategic communications strategies and develop internal and external key messages, to strengthen, enhance and protect Company’s image worldwide; provide thought leadership to broader company communications programs.

  • Shape financial information and reporting to facilitate investor communications, partnering with financial leadership.

  • Lead and coordinate quarterly earnings release activities including press release, scripts, investor presentation, Q&A, preparation of senior executives, scheduling, announcements, web-cast and conference call logistics as well as post-event communications.

  • Work with Corporate Communications in the development of transaction-related press releases and other corporate materials. Drive Iron Mountain's financial public relations strategy, in close partnership with Corporate Communications. Contribute to crisis communications strategies, as necessary.

  • Serve as a principal spokesperson to the investment community to communicate the company’s business model, strategy and operational and financial objectives. Serve as point-person and conduit for all investor communications including SEC filings review, quarterly earnings calls, investor feedback and investment peer research; script materials and talk tracks for investor conferences and quarterly earnings calls; produce company overviews, briefing papers, talking points, etc.

  • Deliver confidence-building shareholder reports, news releases, internal and external talking points and FAQs to support major events, mergers and acquisitions, and large-scale change initiatives, with an eye towards the audience.

  • Prepare management for all financial community needs, presentations and questions. Work with the leadership team to ensure understanding of investor needs and regulatory guidelines in the context of strategic communication. Develop meeting agendas and arrange presentations.

  • Measure the effectiveness of the company’s investor relations program through the quality and accuracy of external analyst research and earnings estimates, the addition of new institutional owners, and growth in value relative to industry peers and relative to the market in general.

  • Monitor the company’s institutional ownership and trading trends. Target and develop relationships with long-term focused investors and maintain a tracking database.

  • Stay apprised of market opinions, attitudes and reactions to industry and company issues.

  • Develop and maintain in-depth understanding of analyst valuation methods and individual analyst models; identify the issues that require management attention. Monitor consensus financial estimates and models from research coverage.

  • Manage other external relationships with the NYSE, specialists, and stock watch.

  • Consistently monitor company’s reportable KPIs to ensure company is focused on the right levers.

  • Work with Corporate Responsibility team and other stakeholders to manage data collection and timely submission of ESG questionnaires to ensure continued inclusion in Socially Responsible Investment Indexes.


  • Ensure that Iron Mountain's story is being told consistently to the highest quality investors, and that senior company leaders maximize the value of their investment in time with investors.

  • Create measurable improvements in investor messaging and engagement to streamline the story and simplify messaging.

  • Cultivate an outstanding reputation with the analyst community, based on credibility, consistency, visibility, access, and depth and breadth of knowledge.

  • Flawlessly execute investor meetings, conferences, and quarterly earnings communications.


  • Proven experience leading investor relations for a global, public company with a complex, matrixed environment. Experience with REITs and/or Data Centers is a strong advantage.

  • Experience developing and communicating a complex narrative and interacting with all the investor relations stakeholders both internally (including Chief Financial Officer, Chief Executive Officer) and externally (including analysts, rating agencies, shareholder activists and regulators).

  • Operating finance background, and clear and thorough understanding of financial modeling and valuation techniques used by financial and investment professionals.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including strong presentation skills. Hands-on experience writing, designing and developing investor materials used for quarterly earnings announcements, investor days, conferences and other activities.

  • Demonstrated track record as a relationship builder. Strong interpersonal and networking skills, including the ability to develop and maintain relationships across a global organization and with the investor and analyst communities.

  • Proven ability to provide credible, actionable advice and counsel to senior leaders.

  • Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree preferred.


Strategic and Credible Investor Relations Leader

The Head of Investor Relations will continue to build the market’s confidence in Iron Mountain and its Senior Leadership team, as well as engage and inform its employees and customers by:

  • Developing and leading a sophisticated and thoughtful investor relations strategy that positions the company and its leadership team favorably and promotes followership in the market.

  • Conceiving, executing and managing a cohesive global communications strategy for both internal and external audiences, creating one “voice” for the organization.

  • Serving as point-person and conduit for all investor communications including SEC filings review, quarterly earnings calls, investor feedback and industry research; scripting materials and talk tracks for investor conferences and quarterly earnings calls.

  • Providing strategic thought leadership, counsel, recommendations and advice to the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Senior Management and the Board of Directors.

  • Communicating with presence and credibility; this role will have frequent interface with Institutional Equity and Bond Investors, Analysts, Media, Ratings Agencies, Senior Management and the Board of Directors.

  • Learning quickly and having the executive presence required to interact at the highest levels of Iron Mountain leadership, and influence across numerous constituents.

Financially Astute and Responsive Communicator

The Head of Investor Relations will enhance the perception of Iron Mountain and its leadership team in the market by:

  • Developing credible messaging and being facile around both quantitative and qualitative information pertaining to Iron Mountain’s performance and advancement of its strategy for value creation.

  • Shaping financial information to communicate the company’s growth and capital allocation strategies.

  • Collaborate with corporate communications to respond and engage appropriately for financial media relations.

  • Writing confidence-building and concise shareholder reports, press releases, internal and external messaging, Company overviews, etc.

  • Scripting talking points and FAQs to support major events, crises, acquisitions/mergers, large scale change initiatives; anticipating challenging questions and developing thoughtful responses.

  • Providing executive management counseling for Q&A preparation and acting as main contact for follow up queries.

  • Demonstrating fluidity around financials in Q&A and follow up.

Proactive Relationship Cultivator

On behalf of a >$20 billion enterprise value, geographically dispersed and matrixed company, the Head of Investor Relations will extend favorable coverage of Iron Mountain by:

  • Partnering closely with key stakeholders, most notably the Board of Directors, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer to continually refine portfolio of coverage and effectiveness.
